The Organic & Non-Toxic Certifications That Matter
No single certification catches everything. Each standard below tests for different substances, through different methodologies, and against different exposure pathways — harmful chemical inputs, toxic substances, health and ecosystem hazards, indoor air emissions, added formaldehyde, and ingredient transparency. Together, they form a compounding system of verification designed so that fewer gaps go unchecked. Six finished-product certifications: GOTS plus five independent nontoxic standards — and Avocado is certified against all six simultaneously.

GOTS Certified Organic Mattress(CU 863637)
- Certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard — the international gold standard.
- Certification applies to the entire finished mattress, not just materials.
- If the whole mattress is not GOTS certified and listed in the public database, it is not organic.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Class I (24.HUS.86422)
- Every component is independently lab-tested for harmful substances.
- Class I is the strictest tier — the one written for products used by babies and toddlers.
- Applies to the complete mattress, ensuring safer materials from top to bottom.

EWG Verified®
- Requires full ingredient disclosure and meeting EWG’s strictest health criteria.
- Verifies the finished mattress, not just a single component.

MADE SAFE® Certified
- Screened against thousands of substances — including carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, and reproductive toxins.
- One of the strictest nontoxic standards for a finished consumer product.

GREENGUARD® Gold
- Certified for low chemical emissions and safer indoor air quality.
- Ideal for families, sensitive sleepers, and chemical-conscious households.

UL® Formaldehyde-Free
- Independently verified to contain no added formaldehyde or formaldehyde precursors.
- Validated by UL through laboratory testing, not a manufacturer's claim.
