What causes stretch marks?

Stretch marks are a type of scar that forms when the skin stretches or shrinks in a short period of time. These changes cause ruptures in the collagen and elastin that form the skin, and as the ruptures heal, stretch marks form. Growth spurts from puberty, pregnancy, weight gain and weight loss, or weight training can all cause stretch marks to appear.

What is shea butter?

Shea butter is a seed fat that comes from the shea tree. Shea butter is an emollient that softens and hydrates the skin with tons of fatty acids that help improve your skin barrier, aka the outermost layer of skin that protects you from the environment.

TerraCycle® and Burt’s Bees have partnered to create a national recycling program for typically hard-to-recycle waste streams. Reduce your impact on our planet - participation is simple and free.

Burt’s Bees personal care, beauty care, and lip care packaging can be recycled through TerraCycle®. If you are recycling toothpaste it may be curbside recyclable. You can check if it is here.

How to Start:

1. Create a Terracycle account. This is mandatory for participation and allows you to track your recycling and impact.
2. Collect your empties - no need to even rinse them out - and put them in an eco-friendly envelope, box or other container. Reuse packaging you already have for mailing.
