Seagrass Rope Open Weave Cylinder Basket with handles, nested set of 3

The best things come in threes. A set of beautifully crafted open weave natural seagrass baskets for any modern home. They can be used to store everyday objects or your favorite houseplants. Our all-around handwoven baskets are stylish and functional, adding a natural vibe to just about any room.

This basket is ethically made and designed in collaboration with artisans from the Bicol Region of the Philippines, verified by the Fair Trade Federation. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted following traditional craftsmanship deeply rooted in Philippine culture and passed down through generations, giving each basket a distinct, personal touch.

It is crafted sustainably from seagrass, locally-known as bankuan, a renewable resource hand-harvested from the coastal waters of the Philippines. Seagrasses can grow quickly without fertilizers or modern cultivation techniques. Some species can grow as much as 8 cm/day, producing multiple crops annually and can be cultivated without harming the environment. With its resistance to molds and eco-friendly characteristics, seagrass can be made into various products including this basket.

By purchasing this basket, you are supporting local artisans in the Philippines, particularly in rural areas, providing them with livelihood and fair wages while honoring their dignity as skilled craftspeople and preserving traditional crafts, techniques and knowledge. You are also contributing to the conservation of marine ecosystems by promoting the value of seagrass meadows in enriching the diversity and population of marine life.

Since each piece is handwoven, please expect slight variation in design, color, shape, and size.
